Tri-County SWCD’s host Cover Crop Breakfast: 2/9/17

Through a partnership with the Alcoa Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and the Soil & Water Conservation Districts of Pike, Dubois and Gibson Counties, there will be a Cover Crop Breakfast on Thursday, February 9th, 2017. This event is FREE to area producers who have a valued interest in improving their soil health and natural resources. A PARP credit has also been approved for this event.
Featured speakers include Ronan Cummins, an independent Crop Consultant and owner of Agronomy One, LLC out of Owensboro, Kentucky and Maria Restrepo-Turner, Pike County Purdue Cooperative Extension Agent.
Agenda for the morning event starts with: (please note – all times eastern)

7:30am – Registration
& Breakfast
8:30am – “Cover Crop Termination” Ronan Cummins – 30 minutes w/ Q & A to follow 9:15am – “Insect
Issues in Crops” Ronan Cummins – 30 minutes w/ Q & A to follow
10:00am – PARP “Utilizing Precision Ag to comply with setback distances” – Maria Turner, Purdue
Extension
11:00am – Dismiss
The breakfast will be held at the Jefferson Township Community Center in Otwell, Indiana with the Schnitzelbank catering a hearty breakfast fit for any producer! If you are attending for a PARP credit, it is required that you bring your PARP applicator card and $10 cash or check. Checks can be made payable to the Pike County Purdue Extension.
Again, this event is free however RSVP’s are required for catering purposes and can be made at www.alcoabreakfast.eventbrite.com or by calling the Pike County SWCD at 812-354-6120 ex.3; the Gibson County SWCD at 812-385-5033 ex. 3 or the Dubois County SWCD at 812-482-1171 ex.3. If you need assistance or dietary needs, please contact the Pike County SWCD at the number listed above.
In the event that the area has inclement weather, posting will be made on the SWCD’s Facebook pages and via email using the Eventbrite registration system.
